Who is this for?
Any person who is looking for a guide through change. It can be professional or personal direction you are seeking. Maybe this is an idea that has been brewing in your mind for years and you haven't had the time or opportunity to process it all. Maybe this is a brand new idea and you are trying to refine the direction. Pushing your limits and boundaries.
This can also be for team building and development. It could be a new team that needs an opportunity to learn about each other and how to work together. It can be an existing team or group that needs to work on their cohesiveness and team culture.
How is coaching different from counseling?
Coaching is not counseling. Counseling works on past issues and trauma, and works with specific diagnoses to foster healing. Coaching is a present and forward thinking, goal oriented work that fosters goal setting and positive change.
What does a coaching session look like?
After a 15-minute no-obligation phone call or Zoom meeting, we will discuss where to meet. Travel time, weather conditions, and your comfort zone for outdoor conditions. We can discuss if this is going to be more relaxed and roaming in nature, or if you prefer something more active and dynamic in nature. Maybe you want to break out of your comfort zone, or have something more within your limits. We’ll begin our time together by getting you comfortable in the working relationship, and then identifying the goals you want to accomplish during our time together. Unplug from the distractions of devices and explore the head space and natural space.
Why the longer time commitment?
Getting outdoors sometimes requires a time investment in the adventure. It may entail a longer drive time to get there, time to prepare for the experience, and then the journey into the more remote areas of each venue. The journey itself is part of the overall experience, not just the destination. A larger block of time allows for the full experience and conversations to be more completely realized and beneficial.
What about inclement weather?
An extended forecast can give an indication of what to expect, and the client identifying their weather “comfort zone” helps guide our sessions together. Dressing for the weather helps open up options further. Wanting to challenge and push your limits opens up possibilities even further. Different venues offer different options for shelter if needed. We will work together to ensure a pleasant overall experience for you, in any weather conditions.
What supplies do I need?
Come dressed for the weather and with sufficient hydration for the time. Bring clothes that are ok to get dirty, as the days events can involve dirt/mud/snow. I’ll bring some snacks, any equipment needed for the day, and some canine company if desired.
