Maybe you have found yourself here because you’re looking for someone to help your child through his/her challenges and adversities. Maybe you’re here for yourself. Whatever the reason I’m glad you are here, and I am excited to be part of your journey.
At New Trails Counseling, we can work towards tapping into you or your child’s inherent strengths and leverage them to address and make progress towards clearly defined goals.
As the roles of technology and social media have increased over the past decade, people from all aspects of life (not just adolescents) have become more sedentary and isolated than ever before. Numerous studies over the years have shown that the effects of this have led to higher rates of depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and a decline in physical health. Compound these effects with someone who has a predisposition for a mental health challenge or has experienced a traumatic life event, and things become much more difficult.
These issues can affect children and adolescents who are still developing. This includes decreased motivation, strained relationships with family members, and problems with friendships. In school, this can lead to disengagement, apathy, and a decrease in work completion, which can all result in declining grades.
In counseling sessions, I focus on helping clients (and families) achieve a balance between personal obligations and work/school commitments with a unique focus on balanced nutrition, physical activity, and adequate sleep.
I look forward to meeting with you and hearing your story as you venture down new paths!
